【How to play】

1. This game is based on the Shogi rule. (Text for inexperienced persons)
2. There is no handicap in even game. If there is rank difference in handicap game, pieces are dropped.

3. When players resign or take opponent's “玉”, the game ends.
4. If the game does not end within 500 moves, it will be a draw.
5. An illegal move: foul defeat (9D-18K), warning dialog (19K-30K).
6. At rank match, players can rank up by points; 200 (8D-5D), 100 (4D-1D), 70 (1K-9K), 50 (10K-18K), 20 (19K-25K), 10 (26K-30K).

【For inexperienced persons】

Shogi is a game that competes to checkmate the opponent's “玉 (王)”.

1. If your piece moves to the place where an opponent's piece is placed, you can take the opponent's piece. In addition, you can use the taken piece as your own piece.
2. Your pieces other than the “玉” and “金” can choose to “成る (promote)” or “不成 (not promote)” when they enter the opponent's territory, move within the opponent's territory, or exit the opponent's territory. Promotion changes how the piece moves. Once a piece is promoted, it cannot be reset.
   
3. A “玉” can move one square forward, backward, left, right, and diagonally.
   
4. A “飛” can move forward, backward, left, and right.
   
   When a “飛” promotes, it becomes “竜” and can move one square diagonally.
   
5. A “角” can move diagonally.
   
   When a “角” promotes, it becomes “馬” and can move one square forward, backward, left, and right.
   
6. A “金” can move one square forward, backward, left, right, and diagonally forward.
   
7. A “銀” can move one square forward and diagonally.
   
   When a “銀” promotes, it becomes “全” and moves in the same way as “金”.
8. A “桂” can move 2 squares diagonally forward.
   
   When a “桂” promotes, it becomes “圭” and moves in the same way as “金”.
9. A “香” can move forward.
   
   When a “香” promotes, it becomes “杏” and moves in the same way as “金”.
10. A “歩” can move one square forward.
    
    When a “歩” promotes, it becomes “と” and moves in the same way as “金”.
11. You cannot place a “歩” in hand on the place where there is already a “歩” on the same row. (Illegal move)
12. You cannot move or place your piece on the place where it becomes unable to permanently move. (Illegal move)
13. You cannot place a “歩” in hand on the place where it becomes checkmate. (Illegal move)
